The Denver Broncos are calling up a reinforcement from the practice squad after losing guards to injuries in back-to-back weeks.
The Broncos have promoted offensive lineman Calvin Throckmorton from the practice squad to the 53-man roster, the team announced Tuesday. He will give the team more depth at left guard after Ben Powers (biceps) went on injured reserve last week, and fill-in left guard Matt Peart (knee) was placed on IR on Tuesday.

Throckmorton (6-5, 311 pounds) entered the league as an undrafted free agent out of Oregon in 2020 with the New Orleans Saints, who were coached by Sean Payton at the time. The 29-year-old lineman started 14 games at left guard with the Saints in 2021, and he has 27 career starts on his resume. After the team lost both Powers and Peart, Throckmorton could now be a candidate for a starting role in Denver.
To fill Throckmorton’s former spot on the practice squad, the Broncos signed offensive lineman Karsen Barnhart.
