Second-year cornerback Quinyon Mitchell suffered a hamstring injury during the Philadelphia Eagles‘ Week 6 loss to the New York Giants this past Thursday.

Mitchell, the Eagles’ No. 1 cornerback, left Thursday’s game after just 13 snaps and was unable to return.

Now, his status for Sunday’s Week 7 matchup against the Minnesota Vikings is in question.

Eagles defensive coordinator Vic Fangio was asked about Mitchell’s status during his media availability on Thursday, and his response didn’t exactly inspire confidence.

Fangio said it “remains to be seen” if Mitchell will be able to play against Justin Jefferson and the Vikings on Sunday.

The veteran DC also said the team will probably roll out Adoree Jackson as its second cornerback ahead of Kelee Ringo. If Mitchell is unable to play, Jackson and Ringo will be the two outside cornerbacks, according to team insider Zach Berman of The Athletic.

This troubling injury news for Mitchell piles on top of some other serious concerns on the defensive side of the ball, including the sudden retirement of pass-rusher Za’Darius Smith and the heel injury that kept Jalen Carter off the field in Week 6.

The Eagles started the 2025 NFL season with a 4-0 record, but have since dropped each of their last two games, falling to the Denver Broncos in Week 5 and Giants in Week 6.

Nick Sirianni’s squad needs the defense to perform at a high level as quarterback Jalen Hurts and the Philadelphia offense have failed to click on all cylinders to this point in the year.

Following Sunday’s Week 7 matchup against the Vikings this weekend, the Eagles will welcome the Giants for a Week 8 rematch at Lincoln Financial Field. Then, the team will get some much-needed recovery time with their Week 9 bye.

Mitchell’s injury status will be updated throughout the week approaching Sunday’s matchup against the Vikings.
