Tuesday brought some roster changes to the Detroit Lions. The team is typically off on Tuesdays, but with Detroit playing at home against Tampa Bay on Monday night in Week 7, the schedule is pushed back a day.
The Lions waived safety Loren Strickland from the active roster. They did not make any immediate additions to the 53-man roster, perhaps an indication that DT Alim McNeill is ready to be activated. Head coach Dan Campbell hinted hopefully at that possibility in his pre-practice press conference.
Detroit brought back two players it waived over the weekend, but only to the team’s practice squad. Defensive tackle Chris Smith and offensive lineman Kinglsey Eguakun are back after going unclaimed on waivers.
The Lions also added veteran CB Kendall Fuller to the practice squad. Fuller, 30, was with the Dolphins in 2024. The 2016 third-round pick by the Commanders played six seasons for Washington and two more for Kansas City before bouncing to Miami. He’s the younger brother of former Lions WR Corey Fuller and, like Corey, played collegiately at Virginia Tech. Concussions ended his last two seasons early, though he’s been healthy enough to work out for teams recently.
