For a player like Tez Johnson to be labeled as a draft steal, it may seem premature, especially when you look at what he has done production-wise. He has just six catches for 112 yards and one touchdown, but his biggest play came in Week 6, where he flashed his true potential.

He was targeted downfield by Baker Mayfield, and he connected with Johnson on a 45-yard score that resulted in him making one of the best fingertip catches in recent memory.

When the Bucs‘ receiving unit underwent so many injuries, they needed the guys who were deeper on the depth chart to step up, and that included Johnson. While Kameron Johnson had some more production in Week 6, it was Tez Johnson’s splash play that proved he deserved to be drafted much higher than in the seventh round.

Every year, there are some players who fall through the cracks, and for Johnson, it made sense.

He weighed less than 150 pounds, and there were questions about whether or not he could handle the size of NFL defensive backs. To his benefit, so far, he has shown he has the speed to get past them, and that is exactly what this offense needs.

No need to over complicate it with Tez Johnson.
