The Los Angeles Rams may have won their Week 6 match against the Baltimore Ravens, but that doesn’t mean the team is firing on all cylinders.

L.A. scored just 17 points in the win over Baltimore after the defense gave up just three points. The Rams rank 16th in scoring this season with just 16.3 points per game and have been atrocious in the red zone. Despite the third-most red zone trips this year (26), L.A. has scored on just 13 of those attempts for a 50% touchdown rate that ranks 24th in the league after six weeks.

This issue appeared to boil over in Week 6 when Rams star receiver Puka Nacua made a passionate and expletive-laden plea with the offense on the sideline — all captured when he was mic’d up for the game.

“We get the ball past the [expletive] 30, we’re scoring touchdowns,” Nacua demanded. “No more of this field goal [expletive]. … I know we feel this — what the [expletive] are we doing? Strain that extra second, bro. We’re better than this.

“… Earn the right to dance [in the end zone].”

While Nacua looks angry, this is likely just frustration with the team’s offensive performance and an attempt to hype up his teammates. It likely didn’t help, either, that Nacua missed time with an ankle injury in Week 6. While he did return to the game, he only played 50.9% of the team’s offensive snaps and finished with just two catches for 28 yards.

Nacua hasn’t been known as a huge vocal leader, but appears to have grabbed hold of that role in his third NFL season.

It’s unclear when this speech happened, but Week 6 was another poor red zone game for L.A. The Rams’ two red zone trips in the first half ended with a missed field goal and a made field goal. In the second half, they scored a touchdown on their first red zone attempt, then turned the ball over on fourth down on their last red zone drive.

That’s not going to cut it in the competitive NFC.

And the Rams need that from him. This is a 4-2 team with Super Bowl aspirations fighting to defend the NFC West crown. The team has looked great at times but hasn’t put together a complete game yet this season.

Maybe Nacua’s words will hit home in Week 7 when the Rams travel to London to face the Jacksonville Jaguars ahead of their Week 8 bye.
