For the second straight week, the Denver Broncos have placed their starting left guard on injured reserve.

The team announced several moves on Tuesday, signing defensive back J.T. Gray from the Ravens’ practice squad and promoting guard Calvin Throckmorton to the active roster while placing lineman Matt Peart and linebacker Garret Wallow on injured reserve. They also designated wide receiver Thayer Thomas as practice squad/injured while adding limman Karsen Barnhart and edge Garrett Nelson to the practice squad.

Peart has played in six games this season, making his first start of the year against the Jets on Sunday. He filled in for guard Ben Powers, who was placed on injured reserve last week. The Broncos’ offensive line already took a bit of a step back against the New York Jets so this will be an issue to watch for the team moving forward. Throckmorton figures to be the next man up at left guard. The fifth-year player has appeared in 49 games, getting 27 starts.

Wallow, a backup linebacker, has gotten into five games and has been a factor on special teams.

Gray is a former First Team All-Pro and Pro Bowler, getting recognition as recently as 2024. He’s also been a solid special teamer across his seven seasons. Gray played for both Sean Payton and Darren Rizzi with the Saints.
