The Denver Broncos‘ defense is racking up the awards, both weekly and seasonally. Rightfully so.

Pass rusher Jonathon Cooper is the latest to be awarded the AFC Defensive Player of the Week award, following his performance in Week 6 against the New York Jets, the NFL announced Wednesday. Cooper led the ferocious Denver defense with two sacks, including the game-sealing sack in the 13-11 win over the Jets in London. He also had five tackles (two solo), three quarterback hits and one tackle for loss. The Broncos sacked Jets quarterback Justin Fields nine times in the victory.

Fellow pass rusher Nik Bonitto previously won an AFC Defensive Player of the Week award for his Week 5 performance over the Philadelphia Eagles with 2.5 sacks. Bonitto and Cooper are the first Broncos teammates in franchise history to win back-to-back Defensive Player of the Week awards.

Cooper is just the latest Bronco defender to win the weekly honor. Cooper also joins nine other Bronco linebackers to win the award, along with Bonitto, Cody Barton, Von Miller, Wesley Woodyard, Al Wilson, D.J. Williams, Glenn Cadrez, John Mobley and Karl Mecklenburg.

The Broncos currently lead the NFL with 30 sacks through six games, and they are on pace to break the NFL record of 72 sacks set by the 1985 “Monsters of Midway” Chicago Bears.
