Houston Texans cornerback Derek Stingley Jr. made his bye week count. The 24-year-old Pro Bowler proposed to his longtime girlfriend, Annabella Campagna, and the couple shared the big news Tuesday in a joint Instagram post. “10?10?25 The most perfect day to say yes for forever,” the caption read.

Stingley presented Campagna with a massive elongated diamond set on a gold band, and the post’s photos showed the moment he got down on one knee in an outdoor setting. The engagement came just weeks after the two celebrated their second anniversary. “In this life and the next it’s always you,” Campagna wrote in September.

It’s been a big year all around for Stingley, who continues to emerge as one of the NFL’s top young defensive backs. The Texans star earned his first Pro Bowl and First-Team All-Pro selections last season, putting up 35 solo tackles and five interceptions in 17 games. Houston rewarded him with a three-year, $90 million contract extension that included nearly the entire amount guaranteed.
Now in his fourth NFL season, the LSU product has 10 solo tackles and an interception through five games and remains a key part of Houston’s defensive foundation. The Texans hit the bye at 2-3 after back-to-back wins over the Titans and Ravens and return to action Monday night on the road against the Seahawks.
Safe to say, Stingley’s week off turned out to be a memorable one — both on and off the field.
