A Bay Area homeowner is taking spooky season — and the 49ers’ injury woes — to a whole new level.
A photo circulating on X, the site formerly known as Twitter, shows a front-yard Halloween display made entirely of skeletons dressed as 49ers players, complete with jerseys, helmets, crutches and even the team’s blue medical tent.
Each skeleton represents one of the many 49ers currently sidelined this season. Inside the tent sits Fred Warner, the All-Pro linebacker who dislocated and fractured his ankle in San Francisco’s most recent game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
In another photo, wide receiver Jauan Jennings appears to be getting treatment after revealing he played through both a high and low ankle sprain — and five broken ribs — in the 49ers’ loss to the Bucs.
Just outside the tent, Brandon Aiyuk waits in line wearing crutches. The wideout has missed several weeks after tearing his ACL and MCL late last season, and recent reports suggest he still is nowhere near returning to the field.
Behind him, Nick Bosa — who suffered a season-ending ACL tear against the Arizona Cardinals in Week 3 — stands stoically in his No. 97 jersey.
At the end of the line is George Kittle, sporting his No. 85 jersey and a pair of crutches. The star tight end has missed the last four games with a hamstring injury sustained in the season opener against Seattle. He was placed on injured reserve after that game, and though he’s now eligible to return, general manager John Lynch said the team plans to be cautious as Kittle works his way back.
Wide receiver Ricky Pearsall is questionable with a knee injury sustained in Week 4 against the Jaguars after a hard landing near the sideline, while Brock Purdy continues to recover from a toe injury.
Even Jake Moody makes an appearance in the photo, suitcase in hand, symbolizing his move to Chicago after the kicker was released by San Francisco following a shaky season opener against the Seattle Seahawks.
The elaborate display, complete with a sign pointing toward Chicago, 2,133 miles away, has quickly gone viral among Niners fans. It captures both the team’s misfortune and their fans’ humor in heartbreak — a timely, if unsettlingly accurate, Halloween tableau.
