No. 2 Miami (5-0) vs. Louisville (4-1), Friday, 7 p.m., ESPN

Latest line: Miami is favored by 13 1/2 points

The Hurricanes come rolling into this home game against the Cardinals with five straight wins to open the year. When Miami and Louisville have faced off the last two years, the games have been tight, high-scoring affairs. But this year, the teams come in with strong defenses. The Hurricanes’ defense is better, though, and the Cardinals’ offensive line has struggled. That is a recipe for UM’s defense to have a strong game and limit what Louisville can accomplish on offense. The Hurricanes’ offense may not put up 50 points, but it will do more than enough to get the job done.

Everything points to another victory for the No. 2 Miami Hurricanes, starting with the offensive and defensive lines that will again dominate the night. A week off only helps Miami collect itself for a run through the ACC. UM has been the No. 2 team in the nation for three of the past four weeks, which is its best stretch at that position or better since 2003, when the Hurricanes were No. 2 for eight consecutive weeks. That streak should be extended this week.

Miami is favored by 13 1/2 points, but this game could end up being much closer as Louisville has talent on both sides of the ball. Led by head coach Jeff Brohm, the Cardinals rank near the top in the ACC in several offensive and defensive categories. Louisville, coming off a bye week like Miami, lost at home to No. 24 Virginia 30-27 in overtime two weeks ago. The Cardinals are averaging 36 points a game this season, but will hard-pressed to pile up points against UM and its star edge rushers Rueben Bain Jr. and Akheem Mesidor.
