SMU’s road trip to face Clemson became a bit more intriguing Thursday when QB Cade Klubnik was listed as questionable in the ACC’s injury report.

Klubnik, who sprained his ankle in the Tigers’ win over Boston College last week, could see his streak of 34 consecutive starts for Clemson come to an end Saturday against SMU. Clemson’s starting left tackle Tristan Leigh was also listed as questionable.

On3’s Larry Williams reported Thursday afternoon that there is significant concern within Clemson’s program that Klubnik will be able to go against the Mustangs on Saturday.

Klubnik, an Austin native, has completed 65.8% of his passes this season and thrown for 1,530 yards with 11 touchdowns and five interceptions. In Clemson’s win over SMU in the ACC championship game last season, he completed 24 of 41 passes for 262 yards and four touchdowns.

If Klubnik can’t play, Clemson would turn to Christopher Vizzina or Trent Pearman. Vizzina, a redshirt sophomore, is viewed as Klubnik’s possible replacement for next season and came in last week when Klubnik was injured. He completed 6 of 11 passes for 39 yards against North Carolina and completed 1 of 3 passes at Boston College for a touchdown and an interception. Pearman completed 1 of 3 passes for 31 yards against North Carolina.

SMU’s Romello Brinson and Jaelyn Davis-Robinson were also listed as questionable.
