The Denver Broncos aren’t expected to play against the Indianapolis Colts in Berlin, Germany this fall.
The Broncos made a public push to play in Germany, but it sounds like Denver will not be picked as the “road” team for Indy’s game in Berlin on Sunday, Nov. 9, in Week 10 of the 2025 NFL season. The Colts will be considered the “home” team for the NFL’s first-ever (regular season) game in Berlin.
Instead, @OzzyNFL — a Twitter/X account that has correctly leaked games — says Indy blocked the Broncos from being their opponent in Germany. There is some consolation, though, as Denver is expected to face the New York Jets in London, England, this fall.
Damani Leech, Denver’s team president, has a background working on the NFL’s international games, and he loves them. Leech admitted, though, that he was surprised coach Sean Payton has been eager for an international game in 2025.
“I was surprised Sean really vocalized his interest in playing in Germany,” Leech said in March. “I think some of that goes back to he likes to travel, I think he likes the team being alone-ish together and what that does from a culture standpoint with the team. He likes the idea of being first and playing in a city like Berlin for the first time in the NFL regular season.”
Payton’s interest in playing in Germany has been foiled by the Colts. Another tidbit of note, the same “Ozzy” account told the Denver Gazette’s Chris Thomasson that the Broncos will have back-to-back road games against Philadelphia and Washington in 2025, setting up another East Coast road trip for Payton’s squad this season.
