Crews begin revitalization of Point State Park fountain ahead of 2026 NFL Draft in Pittsburgh

Renovations to the iconic fountain at Point State Park are underway as the city of Pittsburgh begins preparations ahead of the 2026 NFL draft. Allegheny City Electric foreman Josh Chojnicki explained the magnitude of the project to Pittsburgh’s Action News 4 on Monday, saying the project includes work in the tunnel beneath the fountain. “All of the conduits lead to boxes in the fountain, where wiring will connect back to the pump house for remote control capability,” Chojnicki said. Nearly 300 outdated lights are being replaced with energy-efficient LEDs. Crews are removing old wires and prepping the area for new installations.While the fountain will remain dry this summer, the city anticipates a grand unveiling next April, just in time for the NFL draft festivities. “It’s a staple of the city, so it’s cool to be a part of,” Chojnicki said.Choknicki said the work will be completed and tested by the end of the summer.
