London is calling, innit?

The Jacksonville Jaguars (4-2) are set to take on the Los Angeles Rams (4-2) from Wembley Stadium in London, England. The team opted to fly overseas early in the week, giving it a chance to get the lay of the land and help build a little extra chemistry.

“You have nothing else to do except see your friends all day, every day, your teammates,” linebacker Foye Oluokun said. “Learn more about them, eat with them everything, instead of going home and getting time apart, you got to really become one with each other. So, it’s a good opportunity to really — kind of feel like college again.”

Jacksonville is coming off a loss to the Seattle Seahawks where they repeatedly shot themselves in the foot by allowing chunk plays on defense and procedural penalties on offense.

Not to mention kicker Cam Little missed an extra point and field goal in the game, causing the team to miss out on several scoring opportunities.

But flushing that game should be easier as the team is in a different environment and will be able to use the experience as camp-like bonding ahead of the bye week.

“I just thought it was a great opportunity for our guys to get here, be able to be together a little bit more, have a little bit more continuity,” head coach Liam Coen said. “It just came at the right time after a loss and our guys are excited, I think, to be able to play out here and be in that stadium, playing on Sunday.”

Here are three bold predictions for Jacksonville Jaguars vs. Los Angeles Rams:

Jaguars’ defense will force a turnover against the Los Angeles Rams, keep their league lead

The Jacksonville Jaguars will record a takeaway against the Los Angeles Rams.

The Jaguars failed to record a takeaway for the first time this season against the Seattle Seahawks. It wasn’t because of lack of effort as rookie two-way player Travis Hunter dislodged the ball after a would-be catch and fellow rookie and former Colorado teammate B.J. Green dropped what would’ve been the easiest interception of his career.

Still, everyone wondered how the Jaguars would look if they didn’t get a takeaway and last week provided a clear view. The Jaguars did a good job of getting off the field as they only allowed Seattle to convert 1-of-12 attempts on third down.

But the lack of turnovers was a factor as the Seahawks were able to defeat Jacksonville. Now, it’s time to get back to the basics.

“I think that’s really the name of the game when you’re not getting turnovers, just get the ball back to the offense as soon as possible,” Oluokun told reporters this week. “Get off the field and have the offense in good field position.”

The Rams are tied for fifth-most turnovers in the NFL this season with seven giveaways, recording five fumbles and two interceptions. The Jaguars are going to have to take advantage of the recklessness with the football and capitalize on the opportunities to win back the ball.

It won’t be easy as Matthew Stafford is one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL. He can manipulate defenses with his eyes, tossing no-look passes and earning a comp to a Hall of Fame basketball legend from defensive coordinator Anthony Campanile.

“I think it’s hard to simulate that, but you really have to have some stuff queued up so they can really get a feel and an understanding for how good he actually is at that,” Campanile told reporters on a zoom call. “Whether that’s TV copies, so they can literally see him doing that or just other instances or other angles of him doing it because he could be like Magic Johnson back there.”

With 10 interceptions this season and four fumble recoveries, the Jaguars might have some magic of their own to counter Stafford.

Jaguars’ offensive line will have a bounce-back performance, Jacksonville will rush for 100+ yards

The Jacksonville Jaguars will have more than 100+ rushing yards against the Los Angeles Rams.

The offensive line had its worst performance of the season against the Seahawks. Not only did they allow a career-worst seven sacks on Trevor Lawrence, the Jaguars rushed for a season-low 59 yards.

Seattle took away what the team has been good at through the early part of the season, rushing for at least 85 yards in each of their prior games. It’s a performance the team didn’t immediately move past and since have owned.

“You definitely flush it at some point, but we got to look at it, take accountability for it,” offensive lineman Patrick Mekari said. “Definitely learn and grow from it and once those have been set in place, then I think you flush it and you move on.”

Against the Rams, the Jaguars have to get back to running the ball effectively. They recorded more than 100 yards in four of their six games so far this season.

Travis Etienne looks rejuvenated, churning out some of the best performances of his career behind Jacksonville’s revamped O-line.

When they can move the ball on the ground, it takes pressure off Lawrence and allows the passing game to open up more.

“You can’t take one game and freak out and let you lose sight of kind of the progress you’ve made and the things that you have done well,” Lawrence said. “You’ve just got to get back to some of the basics, some of the fundamentals. Just do the little things well.”

The Jaguars got some good news about their offensive line as center Robert Hainsey practiced in full for the first time since injuring his hamstring against the Chiefs.

If Hainsey can play, it’ll provide some stability to the line. Especially with players already motivated to bounce back after the previous performance.

“I talked to Anton [OL Anton Harrison], talked to some of those guys,” Coen said. “They’re very eager, I think for the challenge to step up.”

Jaguars WR/CB Travis Hunter will score the first touchdown of his career in London vs. Los Angeles Rams

Jacksonville Jaguars rookie two-way star Travis Hunter will score his first career touchdown against the Los Angeles Rams.

If you said before the season Hunter wouldn’t have scored a touchdown — on either side of the ball, but specifically offense — by now, I don’t know that I would’ve believed you. The Jaguars’ gave up a lot to get him and I won’t overanalyze or get on a soapbox, but he’s their most dynamic player.

They need to get him the ball and they know it as Lawrence and Coen both talked about it this week.

“It is very important for me to be patient,” Hunter told reporters in London. “Just got to let the game come to me, coach is trying to dial up a couple things for me and I just got to continue to just work and just having the guys trust me because I’m doing my job every time. So, I’ve just got to continue to do my job.”

He’s caught 20 passes for 197 yards with seven first downs this season. But the biggest stat is the zero under touchdowns. We obviously don’t know the play calls or anything like that, but he’s only gotten close to seeing the endzone twice this season and both times resulted in interceptions.

It’s time to get him across the goal line, if for no other reason than because he’s handled it better than he should.

“It’s a team sport,” he said. “I just go out there and do my job and the other guys do their job and we continue to be a team, not be selfish and just continue to be consistent and win the games the best way we could.”
