This past offseason, the Cincinnati Bengals took trade calls surrounding star pass rusher Trey Hendrickson. As Hendrickson and the Bengals bantered over his contract situation, the front office gave Hendrickson’s camp permission to seek a trade, but obviously, no deal was reached.

On The Breer Report, Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated recently revealed what the Bengals were looking for with one team. The Indianapolis Colts got in to negotiations with the Bengals in an attempt to reunite Hendrickson with former defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo, and Breer revealed what the Bengals asked for in return.

Breer says the Bengals wanted a “high-end” draft pick and defensive tackle Grover Stewart in return for Hendrickson, but the Colts clearly didn’t want to give up that much for Hendrickson, who would have come with the baggage of needing a new, top-of-the-market contract if these talks were before the Bengals gave Hendrickson a raise.

In the end, Hendrickson remains a Bengal, and we are looking toward another offseason with loud discussions about Hendrickson’s future in Cincinnati.

Below, you can see the full segment, though please note that it came before Thursday’s win over the Steelers, which should end any talk of trading Hendrickson. If anything, the Bengals should be looking to trade for defensive help themselves ahead of the NFL Trade Deadline on November 4.
