The Seattle Seahawks are expected to have cornerback Devon Witherspoon available against the Houston Texans on Monday Night Football in Week 7. Witherspoon was a full participant at Friday’s practice despite being limited earlier in the week. The elite cover-man appears slated to return from a two-game absence with a knee injury.

Witherspoon’s return comes at an opportune time. The challenge versus the Texans on Monday is an underrated one. Despite beginning the campaign in disappointing fashion, CJ Stroud and the passing attack has shown improvement in recent weeks.

The 2-3 Texans defeated the shorthanded Baltimore Ravens 44-10 last week. Stroud went 23-of-27 with as many touchdowns passes (4) as incompletions. The previous week, the Texans shut out the Tennessee Titans 26-0. This is a surging offense under first-year offensive coordinator Nick Caley.

Witherspoon may not be tasked with covering superstar Texans receiver Nico Collins one-on-one, but it’s an option. Elsewhere, Xavier Hutchinson, Christian Kirk, and Jayden Higgins are making plays for the offense. Witherspoon is also one of Mike Macdonald’s most sure-handed tacklers, and the Texans love using running backs Woody Marks and Nick Chubb.

The Seahawks missed Witherspoon. The Texans are fielding an improved offense with high-level quarterback play and a helpful supporting cast. Macdonald will be pleased to have Witherspoon at his disposal against the Texans on MNF in Week 7.
