Former Peoria High football standout Kaevion Mack is coming back to central Illinois.
The former all-Big 12 Conference player announced on social media his commitment to Illinois State on Sunday night. Mack, a 6-foot-2, 200-pound wide receiver, spent the last four seasons at Western Michigan and will be a grad transfer for the Redbirds this fall.
During his time with Western Michigan, Mack appeared in 23 games, catching seven balls for 84 yards and two touchdowns. He played in all 13 games this past season with five catches — two for touchdowns — totalling 63 yards.
At Peoria High, Mack was named three-time Journal Star all-area pick, while being named the Big 12 Conference Defensive Player of the Year as a junior.
Mack will join an ISU program that is coming a 10-4 campaign where they made the second round of FCS playoffs. He’ll be on a roster with former Journal Star player of the year Seth Glatz (Morton) along with Peoria-area players Micah Barnhart (Canton) and Ben Wallace (Metamora).
Illinois State opens its season Aug. 30 with a trip to Oklahoma.
