The incident occurred with 5:52 remaining in the game as quarterback Mac Jones threw his second interception of the game. While Buccaneers cornerback Jamel Dean came down with a pass intended for 49ers receiver Jauan Jennings, Williams was pulling Tampa Bay safety Tykee Smith to the ground by his face mask.
Williams was assessed a 15-yard penalty on the play, and the fine announced Saturday was the standard first-offense amount for a face mask infraction. Next time, per the NFL’s fine schedule, Williams could have to pay $17,389 for a second offense.
