Things are not going well for the Raiders at Arrowhead today. The Chiefs are absolutely pummeling them on both sides of the ball. And just when you think it couldn’t get any worse, the Raiders lose their best player.

Maxx Crosby left the game in the second quarter with an injury. And just before the start of the third quarter, the team announced he was Doubtful to return with knee and back injuries.

With the team already down 21-0 at that point, could it be the injuries were just not worth risking putting him back in the game? Pete Carroll has said that before with several players including TE Brock Bowers and CB Eric Stokes only to see those players miss time with injury. So, whether Carroll says that again in the postgame presser is irrelevant.

Crosby has also been known to rest his injuries throughout the week only to be back on the field for the game. So, while this situation is worth following every step of the way, the only true test will be either the final injury report next week, or the inactive list before the game.

Either way, missing Crosby is not small thing. The Chiefs quickly went up 31-0 in the third quarter, so Crosby returning wouldn’t change much in this outcome, but his uncertain status is worrisome for games ahead. This defense goes through him.
