The Carolina Panthers will be riding a three-game win streak when they host the Buffalo Bills in Week 8, but they may be without their starting quarterback.

In the third quarter of the Panthers’ 13-6 win over the New York Jets, quarterback Bryce Young exited the game with an ankle injury. Carolina listed Young as questionable to return, but the former first-round pick was held out for the remainder of the game.

Post-game, Panthers head coach Dave Canales provided an update on the quarterback.

“Evaluating him for the right ankle,” Canales told the media. “So we’re taking all the information. We’re going to look at him when we get home some more and see where we are at.”

Canales added that the injury occurred on a third-down play when Young was trying to get away from defenders.

Young was 15 of 25 for 138 yards and a touchdown before exiting Sunday’s win. The former first-overall pick was replaced by veteran quarterback Andy Dalton. Dalton completed 4-of-7 passes for 60 yards in relief of Young.

The Bills Mafia are no strangers to Dalton. The 37-year-old quarterback is beloved by the fan base for his role in ending Buffalo’s playoff drought back in 2017. Dalton, then with the Cincinnati Bengals, completed a 49-yard touchdown pass to Tyler Boyd on a 4th and 12 play with 44 seconds left to defeat the Baltimore Ravens. The Bengals’ win over Baltimore and the Bills’ win over the Miami Dolphins ended a 17-year playoff drought.

To thank Dalton, Bills fans raised over $400,000 for The Andy and Jordan Dalton Foundation.
