The Minnesota Vikings fell to 3-3 on the 2025 NFL season Sunday after a tough loss against the Philadelphia Eagles, and while Jalen Hurts put together a historic showing for the Birds the NFC North team was left with big questions after a critical play in the game was called back without any reasoning.

Tight end TJ Hockenson has the chance to get in on the high-scoring affair with a potential touchdown catch in the fourth quarter and the Vikings trailing, but after long deliberation the initial call was overturned despite the fact that the officials originally signaled for a touchdown.

After the game, Hockenson shared his displeasure with the call made by the NFL’s officiating crew and even stated that he doesn’t “understand the catch rule at this point.” While it did look like the ball moved around after Hockenson made contact with the ground on the play, it was a difficult situation to see in real time, so overturning the call was definitely surprising to many NFL fans.

The crucial nature of the sequence certainly made it even more frustrating for Hockenson and Minnesota, who were denied a touchdown late in the game when they were trailing the Eagles by nine points and there was a little over three minutes remaining.

However, the Vikings settled for a field goal and Philadelphia never gave the ball back to their opponents on the following drive.
