NFL fans believe that A.J. Brown’s expletive-filled touchdown celebration against the Minnesota Vikings was aimed at his Philadelphia Eagles teammate Jalen Hurts.
The defending Super Bowl champions, the Eagles, have endured a start-stop-start to the 2025 NFL season, with Nick Sirianni’s men struggling to find consistent offensive form. Quarterback Hurts and his star receivers, Brown and DeVonta Smith, have caught particular attention.
Brown and Smith have both expressed frustration over their usage, with the Eagles 4-2 heading into last weekend’s trip to the Vikings. That frustration fueled Brown trade rumors, with Sirianni forced to address the Super Bowl winner’s future at the franchise following a cryptic social media post in recent weeks.

NFL teams have seemed to stifle the Eagles’ running game this season, spotlighting Hurts’ throwing ability, particularly with deep ball attempts to Brown and Smith. On Sunday, Hurts got it spot on, racking up 326 passing yards and three touchdown passes, two to Brown and one to Smith.
However, one of Brown’s touchdown celebrations drew attention, with some Eagles fans believing his expletive reaction was aimed at his quarterback.
“This when you throw me the f—ing ball!” Brown allegedly said, as quoted by comedian Gowie on X. “What the f— is that?! Just throw the f—ing ball!”

The Eagles ran out 28-22 winners on the day, moving their record to 5-2 in 2025, as they look to retain the Championship. Hurts went 13-of-17 for 304 yards when targeting his wide receivers in this game — the second-highest yardage total in his career.
“The thing was to come in and establish the run, that’s what we wanted to come in and do, and the game just flowed the way it did,” Hurts said.
“We were able to be efficient in the pass game, KP was very timely, and I think we were able to doctor up some things on the sideline and work through some things, but those guys made big-time plays. Smitty had a hell of a day. Tough. Size ain’t nothing to him the way he plays. It was good to see.”

“I think definitely there was some fire there,” Hurts added on his performance. “But within that fire you have to be the calm and focusing on executing your job.”
Coach Sirianni has unwavering trust in his quarterback. “The guys will make plays… sometimes you watch a game. It’s like analytics say you should go for it here. Do you trust your players in those moments? That’s what you lean on,” Sirianni explained.
“Every time we get a fourth down conversion, I look at him and I say, ‘Hey, I trust you in these scenarios. Thanks for making me right.,” Sirianni added.
