Week 7 of the NFL season saw solid efforts from some teams, while others showed they still have a lot of work to do.
The gap between contenders and pretenders continues to grow. As the 2025 NFL season progresses, that separation will only widen.
But let’s take a look at how the NFL playoff picture stacks up. With Week 7 largely in the books, here’s a snapshot of the postseason picture.

NFL Teams on the RiseIndianapolis Colts
The Indianapolis Colts continued their winning ways in Week 7, handily defeating the Chargers to improve their record to 6-1 this season. Not only did they convincingly beat a team that made the postseason last year, but they did so on the road.
Winners of three straight coming out of Sunday, the Colts have been one of the most surprising teams in the NFL so far this season. Their defense has fared well against most opponents, and their offense has been fantastic. At this rate, the AFC South is theirs to lose.
The Colts now have a 97.7% chance of making the playoffs and an 86% chance of winning the AFC South, according to PFSN’s NFL Playoff Predictor. Our model also gives Indianapolis a 14.7% chance of winning the Super Bowl and a 49.3% chance of securing the AFC’s No. 1 seed.
New England Patriots
The New England Patriots come out of Sunday with a four-game winning streak, having taken care of the Titans in a 31-16 victory to improve their record to 5-2. With that win, they’ve already surpassed last year’s win total under Jerod Mayo.
Mike Vrabel has the Patriots playing at an extremely high level, and Drake Maye deserves credit, too. He was nearly perfect against Tennessee, completing 21 of 23 passes for 222 yards, two touchdowns, and no interceptions.
The Patriots now have an 85.6% chance of making the playoffs and a 51.8% chance of winning the AFC East, according to PFSN’s NFL Playoff Predictor. Our model also gives New England a 4.1% chance of winning the Super Bowl and an 11.2% chance of securing the AFC’s No. 1 seed.
Philadelphia Eagles
Having lost two games in a row coming into Sunday, the Philadelphia Eagles seemed on the brink of collapse in Week 7. That changed with a 28-22 road win over the Vikings.
The Eagles now sit at 5-2. Most notably, their passing attack clicked: Jalen Hurts had his best game of the season with 326 passing yards and three touchdowns.
The Eagles now have an 81.4% chance of making the playoffs and a 72.8% chance of winning the NFC East, according to PFSN’s NFL Playoff Predictor. Our model also gives Philadelphia a 6.3% chance of winning the Super Bowl and a 13.9% chance of securing the NFC’s No. 1 seed.
NFL Teams on the FallMinnesota Vikings
Coming off a bye the previous week, the Minnesota Vikings didn’t seem to gain extra preparation time for Sunday. Their offense moved the ball, but two interceptions by Carson Wentz held them back in the loss.
The Vikings weren’t necessarily expected to beat the Eagles this week, but every loss outside the division counts in the NFC North. At 3-3, their record isn’t terrible at this stage of the season, but with the division’s strength, Minnesota currently finds itself in sole possession of last place.
The Vikings now have a 31.4% chance of making the playoffs and a 12.1% chance of winning the NFC North, according to PFSN’s NFL Playoff Predictor. Our model also gives Minnesota a 1.7% chance of winning the Super Bowl and a 1.4% chance of securing the NFC’s No. 1 seed.
Jacksonville Jaguars
Given how often the Jacksonville Jaguars play overseas, one might assume a game in London would feel like a home game for them. That wasn’t the case this year, as they were walloped by the Rams for their second consecutive loss.
The Jaguars still sit at 4-3, keeping them in solid position to compete for a playoff spot. However, the offense needs work; in their last two matchups, they scored a combined 19 points.
The Jaguars now have a 53.1% chance of making the playoffs and a 10% chance of winning the AFC South. Our model also gives Jacksonville a 1.7% chance of winning the Super Bowl and a 2.8% chance of securing the AFC’s No. 1 seed.
Pittsburgh Steelers
In an entertaining Thursday night matchup between two starting quarterbacks over 40, the Pittsburgh Steelers were unable to secure the victory. They still hold the top spot in the AFC North, but the Bengals’ win narrowed the gap.
The Steelers remain 4-2, so there’s no immediate panic after the loss. However, the Bengals are hanging around at 3-4, and they look more competitive with Joe Flacco than they did with Jake Browning. Pittsburgh will need to create more separation atop the division before Joe Burrow returns.
The Steelers now have a 78.4% chance of making the playoffs and a 70% chance of winning the AFC North. Our model also gives Pittsburgh a 4% chance of winning the Super Bowl and a 7.6% chance of securing the AFC’s No. 1 seed.
