The Carolina Panthers have won three consecutive games for the first time since 2021, when they won the first three games of the season and finished 5-12.

Stretching that number to four will be difficult with the Buffalo Bills visiting Bank of America Stadium on Sunday — and with starting quarterback Bryce Young sidelined.

Young is expected to miss at least the game against Buffalo, according to a league source, after suffering a high ankle sprain to his right leg in Sunday’s win against the New York Jets at MetLife Stadium. NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero was first to report on Young’s status.

Young injured his ankle in the third quarter and did not return to the game after walking to the locker room with trainers. X-rays came back negative, but he was expected to have additional tests on the joint Monday. Young was seen postgame wearing a walking boot on his right foot.

Veteran backup Andy Dalton finished the game — the Panthers won 13-6 — and is expected to start against the Bills. Dalton completed 4 of 7 passes for 60 yards after replacing Young. On the season, Dalton is 9 for 13 for 118 yards and a touchdown.

This is Dalton’s third season with Carolina. He has started six games for the Panthers — one in 2023 and five in 2024. The 37-year-old Dalton is 1-5 as the team’s starting quarterback.

Young has completed 61.6 percent of his passes this season for 1,288 yards to go with 11 TD passes and five interceptions.
