And just like that, the Denver Broncos are in first place in their division.
After a wild 33-32 comeback win over the New York Giants on Sunday, the Broncos are now 5-2, the best record in the AFC West. Denver’s got an edge over the Los Angeles Chargers (4-3) and Kansas City Chiefs (4-3), and the Las Vegas Raiders (2-5) already appear poised for a last-place finish.
Seven games into the season, the Broncos are currently the No. 3 seed in the AFC, and seven teams from the conference will reach the NFL playoffs. And if Denver wasn’t leading the division, its 5-2 record would make the Broncos the top Wild Card seed.

Note: One AFC team (the Houston Texans) is yet to play on Monday Night Football, but even if they win, improving to 3-3 wouldn’t put them in playoff position going into Week 8.
Up next for Denver is a home game against the NFC’s Dallas Cowboys (3-3-1) on Oct. 26.
