The Buccaneers (5-1) currently sit atop the NFC while the Lions (4-2) are looking to stay close within the conference and also keep pace in the NFC North. Tampa Bay comes in having won its past two games and scoring 30 or more in both wins over San Francisco and Seattle. Detroit is coming off its second loss of the season after falling to Kansas City in Week 6, 30-17. This could turn into a duel between two quarterbacks in Baker Mayfield and Jared Goff, who are having MVP-caliber campaigns.

What remains to be seen is if the Bucs will be as explosive with so many offensive injuries. Starting running back Bucky Irving and wide receiver Chris Godwin Jr. are out, while Mike Evans and rookie Emeka Egbuka have each been dealing with a hamstring injury, though they’re both officially active for Week 7. It’s a matchup between two explosive offenses and should be a thriller despite the injuries.

Dan Campbell’s challenge is unsuccessful, but the referees check the video to determine where the ball was set.

After video review, the officials decide that Otton placed the ball short of first down. Campbell’s challenge, and the timeout, is returned to the Lions, who also get the ball in Tampa Bay territory.

The Buccaneers go for it on fourth-and-4 from inside their own 40 yard line, going for a risky play in the fourth quarter. Cade Otton got the ball, and dropped it while trying to reach for the first down. Bucs guard Ben Bredeson recovered the fumble just past the line, leading the referees to rule it as a first down.

Dan Campbell is challenging the ruling, with video replay appearing to show Otton’s knee down before the fumble.

Always-gutsy Dan Campbell has the Lions going for it on fourth-and-1 to start the fourth quarter, and Jahmyr Gibbs gets it done. Gibbs twists his way past multiple Bucs defenders to pull off the one-yard gain and the first down.

Ya-Sin appeared to tweak his hamstring during a play, and is out into the locker room as yet another Lions cornerback is injured.

If Ya-Sin is out with something significant, he’ll be the fourth Detroit cornerback to suffer an injury this season — fifth if you count Ennis Rakestraw, who was placed on IR in August with a shoulder injury, ruling him out for the entire season. The Lions are already heavily depleted in the secondary; they can’t afford another loss there.

Gibbs finds the hole for a 15-yard gain and a first down, and then gets the 28-yard pass from Jared Goff to get the Lions in the red zone. And then he does it again, getting the five-yard touchdown rush for his second TD of the day.

Gibbs is at 135 rush yards (off 15 carries), plus 82 yards off three receptions. What a night already for the third-year running back.

Baker Mayfield finds rookie receiver Tez Johnson, who runs more than 20 yards into the end zone. Johnson is able to milk that run for a touchdown with a few key twists and a full spin. Big stuff for the Bucs to kick off the second half.

Derrick Barnes nearly got the ball for the Lions there, punching it out of Rachaad White’s hands. But the officials rule that White’s forward progress had stopped to keep the ball with Tampa Bay.

Then, on the next play, Barnes leaps to bat down a pass between Mayfield and Tez Johnson. Detroit is putting the pressure on the Bucs on this drive.

After Tampa Bay’s interception, kicker Chase McLaughlin nails a 53-yard field goal to give the Bucs three points just before the end of the half.

The Lions still hold a 14-3 lead, but it’s narrower than expected after a couple of huge turnovers on both sides.

Jamel Dean jumps for the shockingly easy interception, stealing the ball back for the Bucs with less than 30 seconds left in the half. That’s four straight turnovers (including the field goal miss) between the two teams to end the second quarter; things are getting messy in Detroit.

Maulet got his hands all over a catch, grappling with Bucs tight end Cade Otton. A catch ruled initially for Otton is later overturned after a lengthy review on the wacky play.

On the first play of the Bucs’ drive, Amik Robertson is able to get the ball out. Aidan Hutchinson recovers it, and Detroit is in excellent position in Tampa Bay territory in the final minutes of the half.
