Tom Brady and Shedeur Sanders have a close relationship, but Skip Bayless is confused over why the seven-time Super Bowl champion was unable to sway the Raiders to pick the Colorado quarterback

FOX Sports analyst Skip Bayless urged Tom Brady to “stop lying” after the Las Vegas Raiders minority owner claimed he had minimal input over potentially selecting Shedeur Sanders in the 2025 NFL Draft.
Last month, the Cleveland Browns traded up in the fifth round to select Sanders with the 144th overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. Cleveland’s move ended one of the great draft falls, as the Colorado quarterback – projected as one of the top quarterback prospects in this year’s class – tumbled, sliding past the second, third, and fourth rounds as fans began to wonder if he could return to college.
Despite taking Dillon Gabriel in the third, the Browns added Sanders to a crowded quarterback room featuring Joe Flacco, Kenny Pickett, and an injured Deshaun Watson. Brady has close ties to Sanders and his family, having trained him while his apparel company inked the rookie to an NIL deal during his college days.

Following the draft, Bayless publicly suggested that Brady’s positive relationship with Sanders might have made the Raiders swoop for the quarterback significantly earlier than the Browns eventually did. Brady, who became a minority owner of the AFC West franchise last year, denied these claims on Logan Paul’s ‘Impaulsive’ podcast.
Brady spoke of his lack of involvement in any player evaluations before seemingly targeting Bayless. He referenced how sensationalism often takes precedence over factual reporting, as “extreme voices” contribute to the spread of inaccurate information.
Bayless decided to clap back at Brady, defending his original take and stance. In a video posted to social media, the 73-year-old declared: “I’m about to call B.S. on Tom Brady, because Tom, you know and I know, everything I said about you and Shedeur Sanders is obviously, exactly right.
“Tom Brady mentored and coached Shedeur Sanders all the way up through high school and into college and through college. Nobody out there outside Shedeur’s family knows his game and his nature better than Tom Brady.

“So, we’re to believe there’s nobody in the Raiders organization that at any point in time before the draft said, ‘Hey Tom, what’s your opinion on Shedeur?’
“Stop it, Tom. Quit lying to us, Tom. Quit dodging the truth, Tom.
“I’m just going to say it – I’m calling b—— on you because that’s utter b——-. And obviously, you said ‘No’ to Shedeur because they passed on him seven straight times.
“I don’t know exactly what you didn’t like about Shedeur, but you obviously vetoed Shedeur. I just wish you’d tell the truth.”
Sanders – who has begun training with the Browns – clearly possesses talent. In 2024, Sanders threw for 4,134 yards and 37 touchdowns with 10 interceptions on a nation-leading 74.2 percent completion rate. He won the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award, given annually to the nation’s top upperclassman quarterback in college football, as well as the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year award.
Instead, it’s Sanders’ personality and approach to the game that have received severe criticism. An assistant coach cited by the NFL Network as saying Sanders comes across as “entitled” and was involved in “the worst formal interview” he’d been a part of, while other executives have added anecdotes with similar sentiment.
