Due to a number of unforeseen injuries, the 49ers have a looming decision to make through the first seven weeks of the 2025 NFL season.

Should the 49ers continue to develop their young talent or trade for a star defensive end or linebacker after losing Fred Warner and Nick Bosa for the season? NBC Sports Bay Area asked the Faithful to weigh in on the topic, and the results were neck-and-neck. Developing young players took 53.3 percent of the vote.

Young 49ers linebacker Tatum Bethune filled in nicely for Fred Warner on Sunday night against the Atlanta Falcons. He had 10 tackles and one tackle for loss.

Star defensive ends rumored to be available via trade include Cincinnati Bengals’ Trey Hendrickson and Miami Dolphins’ Bradley Chubb.

General manager John Lynch will have a big decision to make ahead of the Nov. 4 NFL trade deadline on whether to add a piece or stand pat.

The 49ers currently are 11th in the NFL in points allowed, so even with all the recent injuries, defensive coordinator Robert Saleh has been able to keep his group competitive.

Whether the front office decides to make a move or not, it’s apparent that the team will remain in the hunt for the rest of the 2025 season.
