When the Tennessee Titans signed wide receiver Tyler Lockett prior to the draft, he was viewed as a quality depth piece who could help bring the team’s young receivers along in the locker room while making an impact on the field. Unfortunately, that impact has been minimal through seven games, and now Lockett will be on the move.Â
NFL Insider Adam Schefter reported that Lockett has asked for, and has received, his release from the Titans organization. He will be available to sign with any organization on Wednesday afternoon.Â
With multiple franchises searching for wide receiver help, Lockett will immediately become one of the more attractive options on the open market, and be able to quickly find a new home. An 11th-year veteran, Lockett has struggled to make a consistent impact, recording only 10 receptions for 70 yards and zero touchdowns through seven games with the Titans.Â
With the release of Lockett and Calvin Ridley battling a hamstring injury, Tennessee’s wide receiver room is both young and extremely thin as they start preparations for the Indianapolis Colts in Week 8. Look for them to sign one of the receivers on the practice squad to the 53-man roster in the coming days to help fill the void.Â
