While it was reported that Murray should return in Week 9, Jonathan Gannon says it’s too early to expect that.

Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray missed his second straight game on Sunday, sitting out with a mid-foot sprain. ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported Sunday morning that Murray would return in Week 9 after the Cardinals have their bye week.

While that is possible, Cardinals head coach Jonathan Gannon wouldn’t commit to it.

“We’ll see how it goes,” he told reporters on Monday. “(He) keeps trending.”

On Arizona Sports 98.7 FM for his weekly radio appearance, he said it was just too soon to know for sure.

“Probably a little too early to be determined as we sit here now, you know, more than about two weeks away,” he said. “So hopefully he keeps trending along here and we’ll see where he’s at.”

The Cardinals won’t practice this week on the bye. They will return Monday for a bonus practice, but that won’t have an injury report.
