The Tennessee Titans have been one of the most disappointing teams in the NFL this season. Tennessee is 1-6 through the first seven weeks of the regular season, and rookie Cam Ward has not looked deserving of being the first overall selection in the 2025 NFL draft.
Things have gone so poorly for the Titans that one standout is getting his way and being granted his release so that he can contribute to a winning effort elsewhere, per one prominent insider around the league.
“Veteran WR Tyler Lockett has asked for and received his release from the Tennessee Titans, per source. Lockett is expected to be free to sign with another team after 4 pm ET Wednesday,” reported ESPN’s Adam Schefter on Twitter on Monday.
Fans reacte to the news on social media.
“Too many Steelers fans want this guy. No chance. Don’t want em. He’s old. And we have 3 other guys on the roster just like him. I want size and speed. Not an antique. No thank you,” one Steelers fan wrote on Twitter.
“Honestly forgot bro was still in the league,” someone else added.
“Hopefully Tyler lands with a competitive team. No real reason for him to be in Tennessee given the current state of the team,” another fan added.
It’ll be interesting to see if any other notable players make their way off the Titans’ sinking ship before the season ends.
