The Nov. 4 NFL trade deadline is quickly approaching, which makes it a good time to ask if a Seattle Seahawks trade or two could be coming.

On Seattle Sports’ Brock and Salk, that was a question longtime football analyst and former NFL quarterback Brock Huard answered on Wednesday.

Chasing history: The jaw-dropping numbers of JSN’s start for Seahawks

“We are under two weeks – 13 days away – from the trade deadline in the NFL,” said Huard’s co-host Mike Salk during the daily Blue 88 segment. “Do we see the Seahawks make a move or two by then?”

Huard’s response: “I think we do, man. I think we do.”

Salk then mentioned that the possibility of the Seahawks trading one-time Pro Bowler Riq Woolen has come up. The 26-year-old cornerback is No. 4 in an ESPN article published Wednesday ranking the top 25 players who could move before the deadline, with Detroit, Phildaelphia, Atlanta and Tampa Bay listed at trade fits.

Huard use Woolen’s situation as a fourth-year player whose rookie contract will expire after this season to explain what Seattle general manager John Schneider may look to accomplish before the deadline.

“I think you’ve got to look at the look at the big picture, right? We get so tunnel vision, focused in on these games and these moments, and rightfully so – we’re fans. We don’t have to look at the big picture, but they do,” Huard said. “And there’s no question who they’re going to pay. They’re going to pay (left tackle) Charles Cross, they’re going to pay JSN (wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba. And I think we’ll see injury-wise, Spoon (conerback Devon Witherspoon) has gotta do it and do it consistently in the second half of the season. I think those are the guys that you’re going to pay.”

After those three standouts are fourth-year players who may not have a future beyond this season with Seattle.

“And then the Ken Walkers, and then the Boye Mafes, and then the Riq Woolens – can you really pay those guys?” Huard continued. “And if they’re not a part of your long-term plans, is there an opportunity to get value back? … And that’s why I think I’d be surprised in 13 days if there’s not a move made by John Schneider and the Seahawks.”

Huard answers three football questions at 7:35 a.m. daily during the Blue 88 segment of Brock and Salk. Catch Brock and Salk live from 6-10 a.m. weekdays on Seattle Sports.
