Parsons is the NFC’s newest Defensive Player of the Week.
Over the last couple of seasons, it wasn’t uncommon for an opponent to perform well enough to earn individual player of the week honors for the week. That happened for the first time this week after their 27-23 loss to the Green Bay Packers on Sunday at State Farm Stadium.
Packers defensive end Micah Parsons was named the NFC Defensive Player of the Week for Week 7 after wrecking the game against the Cardinals.
In the win over Arizona, Parsons had his best game of the season so far. He had five total tackles, three sacks, five quarterback hits and four tackles for loss.
Prior to Week 7, Parsons had 2.5 sacks, one tackle for loss and eight quarterback hits in five games.
He more than doubled his total in sacks. He increased his QB hit total by more than 50%. He increased his tackles for loss by 400%.
It was a monster game, and he definitely deserved the honor.
With the bye week here for Arizona, one thing is for sure — nobody is going to earn player of the week honors off the Cardinals this weekend.
