The grades are trickling in, and the Seattle Seahawks have predictably done well. Seattle hit the national sweet spot of some draft darlings at great value, without an L.J. Collier-type incident.

Here’s a round up of the grades thus far.

USA Today – B+, 12th overall
The other NFC West teams were all ranked 20th or worse.

Pro Football Focus – A
They particularly liked the Tory Horton and Damien Martinez picks, calling Martinez their 80th ranked player taken at 223.

CBS Sports – A, while giving 49ers a C
This one was utter chaos. The first two sentences called John Schneider “quietly one of the best in the business when it comes to the draft” followed by the potential of Grey Zabel “an All-Pro Center”.

Sports Illustrated – A, with the Niners a D
Their favorite pick was Nick Emmanwori.

Pro Football Network, B+, while the 49ers got a D+

PFN had significant praise for the Seahawks’ early offensive line investment.

Seattle grabbing Grey Zabel with the 18th pick on Thursday night was one of my favorites and made them a clear Round 1 Winner. The pressure ghosts were back bothering Sam Darnold as his tenure in Minnesota came to an end and while we don’t yet know if Zabel can impact the professional game at a high level, the idea that this franchise is honest in their self-evaluation is a step in a very positive direction.

The Ringer – A, one of the five best grades

All in all, this looks like a promising draft class full of early contributors. If Milroe somehow cleans up his mechanics and ends up as the team’s starter in a year or two, that’s just a massive cherry on top.

I have decided not to include any grades from ESPN this year because Mel Kiper has given every team an F for each pick they did not spend on the quarterback from Colorado and I’m tired of it.

The New York Post gave Seattle the third-best class, for any of our East Coast timezone friends out there reading the Post.

For a different approach, Sharp Football Analysis used two consensus big board/ mock draft systems to rank the “value” (reach or steal) of the entire class of each team. The Seahawks came in 12th here, bolstered by Emmanwori and Jalen Milroe but lowered by Grey Zabel and Robbie Ouzts.
