Amid their 0-7 start and ongoing QB woes, the New York Jets are widely expected to be sellers at the upcoming NFL trade deadline. But will star wide receiver Garrett Wilson be on the block?
One fanbase seems to think so and they’re more than happy to play into it.

Over the past 24 hours there has been a noticeable uptick on social media among Cleveland Browns fans who seem convinced that the team is interested in trading for the former Offensive Rookie of the Year. There doesn’t appear to be a reputable source of the rumor, just vibes and rumors.
That didn’t stop ESPN Cleveland from posting about it after Tony Rizzo of The Tony Rizzo Show said that he would “drive to New York” to pick Wilson up for the Browns.

A trade so dumb it’s brilliant
The Jets are obviously going nowhere with Wilson or anyone else right now. At 0-7 on the season, the fans have long-since checked out and it seems like their owner has too.
The Browns aren’t really much better. At 2-5 they’re also looking forward to March and April.
But both teams are in dire need of core pieces for their perpetual rebuilds and both have front offices that seem incompetent enough to make a trade like this.

The Browns have quarterbacks but no one to throw too and the Jets have no quarterback capable of completing downfield passes at all.
A move like this might actually go a long way in improving both of their chances of solving those problems.

That being said, the Jets would be significantly more foolish to trade Wilson than the Browns would be to acquire him. Wide receivers capable of getting 1,000 yards per season with bad QBs don’t grow on trees and the Jets already have him under contract long-term.

But the Jets also need a lot of work done on both sides of the ball if they want to be relevant for the first time in over a decade.
Should the Jets and Browns make a trade like this?
