The NFL trade deadline (Nov. 4) is drawing closer, and the Denver Broncos could use reinforcements at guard and wide receiver, but it remains to be seen if general manager George Paton will be willing to surrender draft capital for short-term answers.

Earlier this week, Chris Simms of ProFootballTalk.com suggested that the Broncos should be buyers ahead of the NFL trade deadline, and he specifically mentioned potentially adding a weapon on offense.

“They need another offensive weapon on that side of the ball,” Simms said on PFT Live.

Courtland Sutton leads the team with 33 receptions for 469 yards and three touchdowns through seven games. Behind him, up next are Troy Franklin (27 receptions, 269 yards, 2 touchdowns) and Marvin Mims (22/234/1). Their fourth leading “receiver” is tight end Evan Engram (22/179/1).

“I don’t think they’re scary on that side of the ball — in the pass game or the run game — and that’s something they need to look at as they go forward here,” Simms said. Mike Florio echoed that suggestion, saying Denver could target a wide receiver ahead of the deadline.

If the Broncos would like to add a receiver, they have 12 days to make it happen.
