A look at which Dolphins players would make the most sense as Cowboys trade targets.
The Dolphins restructured the contract of starting LB Jordyn Brooks by converting base salary into a signing bonus, creating $3M in 2025 salary cap space.

Miami, fresh off their loss against Cleveland, appeared poised to fire their head coach Mike McDaniel and press the reset button on their franchise. Although that hasn’t happened yet, another week of Dolphins’ futility might make it so, with a fire sale sure to follow.
That seems like the perfect situation for Jerry Jones and the Dallas Cowboys to pounce, as the Dolphins roster is filled with players who would fit into the holes that currently sprinkle throughout Matt Eberflus’ defense. With two weeks left before the trade deadline, this is a destination the front office should be monitoring.
While the names may be more familiar than what other clubs have to offer, compensation should be reasonable considering what these players might have commanded if the team were performing better on the field.
Edge: Jaelan Phillips
The 26-year-old pass rusher ranks among the best edge rushers in the league, but is coming off an ACL injury. He has two sacks on the season and 25 career QB takedowns. Phillips is currently playing on the fifth-year option and becomes a free agent at season’s end.
Edge: Bradley Chubb
Chubb is a 29-year-old edge rusher who is signed through the 2027 season and has 43.5 career sacks, four of them this season. Chubb comes with a price tag; though he has zero remaining guaranteed salary after this year, his remaining two year, $38 million on his current deal are concerning.
Linebacker: Jordyn Brooks
The former Texas Longhorn linebacker is in the second year of a three-year contract. Brooks currently leads the league in tackles, and was connected to the Cowboys when he hit free agency a couple of seasons ago. He recently restructured his contract fueling trade speculation.
Defensive End: Matt Judon
Judon is a four-time Pro Bowl edge with 72 career sacks who was supposed to compliment the Dolphins edge rushers. In their lost season though, he’s been relegated to a reserve role. As he has two seasons of double-digit sacks on his resume, this would be an acquisition to kick the tires and see if anything is left in the tank.
