(WLUK) — The Green Bay Packers faced adversity before they even left town for last week’s game against the Arizona Cardinals.
In the latest FOX 11 One on One interview, rookie defensive lineman Barryn Sorrell explained to FOX 11 Sports Director Ryan Wing what the players did during a five-hour delay with their plane.
It was a lot of team bonding, Sorrell said.
During the game, the Packers did well, holding off the Cardinals in the fourth quarter.
“That’s kind of been a point of emphasis for us is just mastering these situations and coming out on top,” Sorrell said.
The rookie said he has been learning from star pass rusher Micah Parsons, whose sack of Jacoby Brissett was key in preserving the win.
Another key play was a fumble forced by pass rusher Rashan Gary and recovered by safety Evan Williams. It came just days after Williams discussed the team’s efforts to generate more takeaways during last week’s FOX 11 One on One interview.
“It sparked a run for us,” Sorrell said of the play.
Sorrell also shared what head coach Matt LaFleur told the players after the game.
Looking ahead, Green Bay heads to Pittsburgh for a Sunday night showdown against Packers legend and current Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers.
“At the end of the day, it just comes down to going out there and competing, giving your best, and I think we’re going to do that,” Sorrell said.
The Packers still have things to work on. Sorrell closed by saying close games early in the season would prepare them for the stretch run.
