The Washington Commanders returned to practice on Thursday in preparation for their Monday night game against the Kansas City Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium. Several players did not suit up for Washington on Thursday, but the first day of practice each week is often a veteran’s rest day.
The big news on Thursday was who did practice. Wide receivers Terry McLaurin and Deebo Samuel were full participants, which is great news ahead of Week 8.
Both receivers participated in every drill and did not appear limited in any capacity. McLaurin injured his quad in Week 3 against the Raiders and has not played since. Head coach Dan Quinn said he was close to returning last week.
Samuel injured his heel sometime ahead of Week 5. While he missed practice time ahead of Weeks 5 and 6, he played in both games. He was excellent in Week 5 against the Chargers, but appeared limited in Week 6 against the Bears. He did not play in Week 7 against the Cowboys.

Three Chiefs players did not practice, including Pro Bowl guard Trey Smith. Smith is dealing with a back injury, but it isn’t believed to be serious.
Overall, Kansas City appears mostly healthy heading into Monday night.
