ASHBURN, Va. (7News) — The Washington Commanders got some good news as they prepare for their Monday Night matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs–wideouts Terry McLaurin and Deebo Samuel returned to practice.
Samuel missed last week’s 44-22 loss to the Cowboys with a heel problem, telling the media after practice, “It feels good.” Samuel later said (the heel), “It’s not an issue.”
Meanwhile, McLaurin had a full practice session following missing several practices over the last couple of weeks. “Injuries come with this game; it’s good to get Terry back, and we’re just ready to rock out.”

“It’s huge getting guys like that back, not only great football players, but leaders on the team. To have them out is just encouraging to everybody,” added fellow wide receiver Jaylin Lane.
“When you go through these kind of adverse situations and you’re kind of going and dealing with these valleys as a team, it’s nice to kind of get a spark with those guys coming back out on the field. So, nice having them around. We’ll hopefully continue to see as they trend towards the game, but for me, it’s nice to throw to those guys for sure,” says Quarterback Marcus Mariota.
Quarterback Jayden Daniels will miss his third game this season after injuring his hamstring in the Dallas loss. An MRI exam indicated that Daniels will not miss a significant amount of time, but head coach Dan Quinn said, “All of the week will be focused on his rehab in hopes of the following week. I’ll assess that next week, but as opposed to some practice, some not, just put all of it, all the time and effort into that.”
Mariota will get the starting nod for the third time this season at quarterback, going 1-1 with a 41-24 win against the Raiders in Week 3.

“I try not to change my process through the week just because I feel like, as long as I got my process, I can lean on that, whether I’m playing or not, and it’s worked well for me over the course of the last couple years. Just being around [Offensive Coordinator] Kliff [Kingsbury] and [Quarterbacks Coach] Tavita [Pritchard] and the rest of the offensive staff, like, I feel really confident in the way that we prepare, and I just go about it the same way,” said Mariota.
Defensively, coaches and players are looking to improve on a disappointing performance against the Cowboys. After speaking with several players, Quinn says there are some adjustments to allow that squad to play faster.
“You wanted to dig in as hard as you can, and that’s my job to help solve problems and make sure we’re playing like that identity like we like. I absolutely did go back through the seven games and find out, you know, what do we like, what do we need to do differently, what needed to change and it was a good process to go through but the result has to be on the field and less hesitation, which increases speed, which increases our ability to go run and hit and that’s the objective,” says Quinn.
Washington (3-4) will look to snap a two-game losing streak, while the Chiefs (4-3) have won two straight.
