The Washington Commanders will be shorthanded in Week 8 against the Kansas City Chiefs and for the remainder of the season due to the injury to defensive end Dorance Armstrong.

Armstrong underwent an MRI on his injured knee earlier in the week, and he was ruled out for the rest of the season. The Commanders announced he will be placed on Injured Reserve.

He finishes the season with 24 tackles, 5.5 sacks, and seven quarterback hits. The Commanders have signed defensive end Jalyn Holmes to take his place.

Washington is already without starting running back Austin Ekeler, who suffered a torn Achilles tendon earlier in the year. Starting quarterback Jayden Daniels left last week’s game against the Dallas Cowboys early and was officially ruled out for Week 8. Marcus Mariota is the backup and finished the Week 7 blowout loss in Dallas.

The Commanders enter Week 8 with a 3-4 record and are in third place in the NFC East. They will enter Arrowhead Stadium on Monday night, dealing with crucial injuries to key players.
