WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) – Wichita community members and organizations have organized grief support for those impacted by a deadly shooting that occurred during a youth football game Thursday night.
The shooting happened at Dr. Glen Dey Park in northeast Wichita during the youth football game. A 32-year-old died from multiple gunshot wounds.
A community gathering will take place on Friday at 6:30 p.m. at Wichita Habitat for Humanity, 2220 N. Opportunity Drive. Organizers said the event will offer a safe “space for open discussion, connection, and collective healing.”
“We continue to face losses, and we want to ensure folks can speak and engage within the community,” organizers said in a release.
Licensed professionals and trauma-informed community leaders will be present to provide guidance and resources to attendees.
“You are not alone, we see you, we hear you, and we are here for you,” event organizers said.
