-With Simmons sidelined, Titans interim coach Mike McCoy said others will need to step up.

“It’s a big loss, obviously, one of the best players in the business,” McCoy said of Simmons. “Those guys— you feel for the player also, because Jeff’s the leader of the team, how hard he works every day, the example he sets, the message he gives the team when he speaks up, the way he plays, his play speaks for itself, what he’s done at such a high level this year. It’s going to be— what I look at it, like we talked to the team about it, it’s an opportunity for others to step up. And that’s what this business is all about. As players, you always want to play more. And especially when you’re a role player that’s back behind someone like that. So it’s not going to one person. It’s going be an entire group of players that have to step up and do their job better to help our defense.”

-Earlier on Friday, the Titans promoted receiver Mason Kinsey from the practice squad to the team’s 53-man roster.
