The Washington Commanders head to Arrowhead Stadium for a primetime showdown with the Kansas City Chiefs on Monday Night Football in Week 8.
Kansas City enters the matchup at 4-3 on the year, holding second place in the AFC West. The Chiefs are coming off a dominant 31-0 shutout victory over the Las Vegas Raiders at home and will turn their attention next to upcoming battles with the Bills, Broncos, and Colts.
As for Washington, the Commanders sit at 3-4 and third in the NFC East. They’re looking to bounce back after a tough 44-22 road loss to the Dallas Cowboys. Following this trip to Kansas City, Washington faces a challenging stretch against the Seahawks, Lions, and Dolphins.

Team news & squadsKansas City Chiefs team news
Patrick Mahomes has rediscovered his rhythm in emphatic fashion, tossing 11 touchdowns against just one interception over his last four outings. His chemistry with Rashee Rice, who made a timely return from suspension in last week’s clash with the Raiders, has reignited Kansas City’s offensive spark, a not-so-subtle reminder to anyone who dared doubt them earlier this season.
The Chiefs are spoiled for choice on offense. Between the evergreen Travis Kelce, the lightning-quick Xavier Worthy, and a backfield rotation featuring Isiah Pacheco, Kareem Hunt, and the versatile Brashard Smith, this unit looks as dangerous as ever heading into November.

Washington Commanders team news
As for Washington, the wheels are wobbling. The Commanders have dropped two straight, and star rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels is in danger of missing out after tweaking his hamstring in the defeat to Dallas. Should he sit, veteran Marcus Mariota is set to step in once more.
Daniels has kept the offense afloat despite missing key weapons like Terry McLaurin (four games) and Deebo Samuel (one game), but the momentum has clearly stalled. To make matters worse, defensive cornerstone Dorance Armstrong has been ruled out for the season with a knee injury — a crushing blow to a unit already stretched thin.

Chiefs vs Commanders Fantasy Football
Patrick Mahomes is scorching right now, the kind of form that reminds fantasy managers why he was once the undisputed king of QB1 glory. The Chiefs’ superstar has been dialed in, rattling off four straight top-five fantasy finishes, each north of 25 points. Simply put, he’s cooking like vintage Mahomes.
Kansas City continues to rotate its backfield trio of Isiah Pacheco, Kareem Hunt, and Brashard Smith, but Pacheco has clearly edged ahead. Before the starters were pulled in the fourth quarter last Sunday, he handled 61.3% of the snaps, a sign that he’s finally clawed his way back into reliable FLEX territory. Pacheco remains touchdown-dependent, while Smith is best viewed as a deep stash or low-ceiling PPR option. As for Hunt, it’s feast or famine — a true touchdown-or-bust FLEX.
The real buzz, though, came from Rashee Rice, who wasted no time making noise in his first game back since Week 4 of last year. He snagged seven of ten targets for 42 yards and a pair of touchdowns, seeing the ball on over half his routes despite only playing 47.5% of Mahomes’ dropbacks. His efficiency — 2.21 yards per route run — screams upside. In full-PPR leagues, Rice is a must-start, and with Kansas City’s offense back in overdrive, he’s flirting with WR1 territory across formats.
On the other side, it’s bad news for Washington. Jayden Daniels went down again, this time with a hamstring issue, and is not expected to suit up. The rookie had already missed two games earlier this year with a knee injury. Marcus Mariota will once again take the reins, offering a modest fantasy floor but little explosion, more QB2 safety net than breakout candidate.
Rookie back Bill Croskey-Merritt, who flashed briefly in Week 5, has gone ice-cold, averaging just 3.1 yards per carry over his last two games (94 yards on 30 attempts). Meanwhile, Deebo Samuel missed Week 7 with a heel injury but has an extra day to get right. The Commanders are also hoping Terry McLaurin can finally return after being sidelined since Week 3.
Chiefs vs Commanders Game Predictions
The Chiefs have found their groove offensively, lighting up the scoreboard over the past several weeks.
After opening the season on a sluggish note with just 21 and 17 points in back-to-back losses to the Chargers and Eagles, Kansas City has flipped the switch in a big way. Over their last five outings, the Chiefs have dropped 22, 37, 28, 30, and 31 points, showing the kind of rhythm and explosiveness fans have come to expect from this offense.
Meanwhile, the Commanders’ defense has been springing leaks lately. They were shredded by the Cowboys in a 44-22 blowout last week and also surrendered 34 points to Atlanta earlier in the season.
With the way Kansas City’s attack is clicking right now, it’s hard to imagine Washington being able to keep them in check. The Chiefs’ offense should have little trouble surpassing the team total once again.
