6:55 PM, Loading Loss No. 100? Columbia travels to Jasper tonight, trying to avoid its 100th straight loss. The Eagles haven’t won a game since 2015 and are 0-8 this season. They finish the season against Hazel Green next week.
6:50 PM, Other key games: Some more important statewide games we will be watching tonight include New Hope at Westminster Christian, Athens at Decatur, Madison Academy at Plainview, St. Michael at Orange Beach, W.S. Neal at Mobile Christian, Flomaton at Cottage Hill and Daphne at Robertsdale.
6:40 PM, Battle of unbeatens: Muscle Shoals travels to Hartselle tonight in a fight for the 6A, Region 7 title. No. 4 Hartselle has outscored its opponents 307-58 this season. No. 3 Muscle Shoals has been even more impressive defensively, allowing just 34 points all season.
6:30 PM, Injury alert: South Alabama signee and Spanish Fort QB Aaden Shamburger will miss his second straight game tonight against 6A, Region 1 foe McGill-Toolen. Critical game for the playoff race.
6 PM, Breaking down 6A, Region 1: This region is a bit different because there are still some region games to be played in Week 11. One thing is simple: the winner of tonight’s Saraland vs. Theodore game at the Land is the region champ. The loser finishes second. Behind those two are four teams (Gulf Shores, McGill-Toolen, Spanish Fort and St. Paul’s) all with 3-3 region records. Two of them obviously will be left out. The Dolphins look to have the easiest path to the postseason with games against 2-6 Baldwin County and 0-9 Murphy left. Tonight’s game between Spanish Fort and McGill obviously could be a huge piece of the puzzle. Next week, the Toros play St. Paul’s. The Saints are at Blount tonight.
5 PM, Breaking down 7A, Region 1: If Baker wins its home game against Fairhope tonight, the Hornets are the region champs for the first time since 1989. If Fairhope wins — in all likelyhood — Mary G. Montgomery will be the region champ, Fairhope would finish second, Daphne third and Baker fourth. Huge stakes for the Hornets.
4 PM, Breaking down 7A, Region 3: The winner of tonight’s Hoover at Vestavia Hills game will claim the No. 3 seed behind fourth-ranked Thompson (6-3, 5-1) and sixth-ranked Hewitt-Trussville (7-2, 4-2). The loser will take the fourth seed – if Thompson beats Prattville (5-3, 4-2). A Prattville upset would put the Lions in the playoffs and leave the Vestavia-Hoover loser out of the postseason.
