ESPN analyst Dan Orlovsky had a solid comparison for New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye during an appearance on NFL Live earlier this week. He compared Maye to former Pittsburgh Steelers legendary quarterback Ben Roethlisberger.

One of the biggest reasons for the comparison is the physical similarities. Maye is 6-foot-4 and weighs 225 pounds, while Roethlisberger measured in at 6-foot-5 and weighed 245 pounds.

There’s also the big arm and ability to shrug off defenders and make plays downfield when things break down.

“I think what stands out the most about Drake Maye right now is that he reminds me of a young Ben Roethlisberger,” Orlovsky said on NFL Live. “Here’s the thing, so often Maye sheds off that arm tackle, that in-the-pocket shove, and I think you’re realizing when he was coming out of school how important that frame was.”

Being compared to a two-time Super Bowl champion and likely future Pro Football Hall of Famer certainly isn’t a bad thing.

That’s a projection that Patriots fans would gladly take in a heartbeat. Granted, there is still a lot of football left to go this season, but so far, Maye has more than lived up to the high expectations set for him after college.
