NFL fans assumed Cleveland Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski would be on the hot seat after a rough start to the 2025 season. Is that actually true though? Dianna Russini of The Athletic shared some intel this Saturday.

Stefanski, a two-time NFL Coach of the Year, has really struggled since leading the Browns to the playoffs in 2023. As a matter of fact, he’s 5-19 since the start of the 2024 season. It certainly doesn’t help that his quarterback situation hasn’t been ideal.

In 2022, the Browns acquired Deshaun Watson in a blockbuster trade with the Houston Texans. He was supposed to be Cleveland’s franchise quarterback. Instead, he ended up being a huge mistake for the front office.

Browns owner Jimmy Haslam acknowledged that failed trade during a recent conversation with Russini. He also made it clear that he believes in Stefanski.

“Kevin’s done a really good job with us, and we’ve had some tough breaks,” Haslam said, via The Athletic. “A big trade we made didn’t work out, and you know, we’re all suffering from that. Kevin, I thought, really did a great job of rallying the troops last week at a really critical time. You find out about leaders when things are bad, not when they’re good, and he did a good job last week.”

Does this mean Stefanski’s safe?

The Browns aren’t interested in making a coaching change right now, and nor should they.

Last Sunday, the Browns dismantled the Miami Dolphins at home. Quinshon Judkins led the charge with 84 rushing yards and three touchdowns.

Could the Browns ultimately part ways with Stefanski in the offseason? Of course, especially if his team ends the 2025 season on a poor note.

If Stefanski wants to remain the head coach of the Browns, he’ll have to get the best out of his players from this point forward.
