Injuries continue to plague the Chicago Bears as key players Kyler Gordon and Braxton Jones are placed on injured reserve.
The Chicago Bears’ injury woes continue to mount as the team placed cornerback Kyler Gordon and offensive tackle Braxton Jones on injured reserve Saturday, ruling both players out for a minimum of four games.
Both players are eligible to return ahead of Chicago’s Week 12 matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers, but their absence creates significant challenges for a Bears team already dealing with multiple injuries on both sides of the ball.
Gordon’s Injury Compounds Secondary Issues
Gordon’s placement on IR represents a major blow to Chicago’s already depleted secondary. The cornerback, who signed a three-year, $40 million extension in March, has battled injuries all season. After missing the Bears’ first four games with a hamstring injury, Gordon appeared on Thursday’s injury report with groin and calf injuries following a limited practice session.
Gordon managed just six tackles and one sack in two games this season before the latest setback. His absence leaves the Bears without their top three cornerbacks for Sunday’s game against Baltimore, as Pro Bowl corner Jaylon Johnson remains sidelined with a core muscle injury suffered in Week 2, and Tyrique Stevenson is out with a shoulder injury.

Jones’ Benching Leads to IR Stint
Jones’ move to injured reserve comes after he was benched during Chicago’s win over Las Vegas in Week 6. The 2022 fifth-round pick was replaced at halftime by Theo Benedet, who has since taken over the starting left tackle role. Jones is dealing with a knee injury that has now landed him on the shelf for at least a month.
The offensive line shuffle continues for Chicago as they work to protect quarterback Caleb Williams and establish consistency up front.
