The Indianapolis Colts are reportedly “making calls” on cornerbacks ahead of the NFL trade deadline, according to The Athletic’s Dianna Russini.
Along with the Colts, Russini also mentions the Lions, Ravens, and Rams as other teams that are in the cornerback market.
It certainly doesn’t come as a surprise that the Colts are looking for cornerback help.
For one, Russini’s report is one of several lately that have mentioned the Colts as looking for help on defense and specifically at the cornerback position.
To the secondary’s credit, the Colts have come up with big stops and key takeaways throughout the season. However, the depth of the cornerback room continues to be tested due to injuries.
In last week’s game against the LA Chargers, starting at outside cornerback was Mekhi Blackmon, while opposite of him was undrafted rookie Johnathan Edwards, along with Cameron Mitchell, who was elevated from the practice squad.
The Colts are still looking for more down-to-down consistency from this very thin unit.
Here is a look at four cornerbacks who could potentially be available at this year’s deadline.
When it comes to making a deal happen, the Colts currently have six selections in the 2026 NFL draft and a little over $4 million in available salary cap space.
Pass rusher is another position that we could see GM Chris Ballard target at the trade deadline.
