Sources: Daron Payne (toe) is uncertain to play on MNF, sources tell “Last Man Standig.”

Payne missed two practices and was not seen during today’s open portion.

The Washington Commanders look to snap a two-game losing streak on Monday as they face the Kansas City Chiefs on the road at Arrowhead Stadium. The bad news is that Washington will be without quarterback Jayden Daniels, who was ruled out with a hamstring injury.

However, the Commanders will get starting wide receivers Terry McLaurin and Deebo Samuel back for Monday night’s game. That’s great news for quarterback Marcus Mariota, who will make his third start this season.

Washington released its final injury report on Saturday, and two players are out: Daniels and tight end Colson Yankoff. Two players are questionable: defensive tackle Daron Payne and kicker Matt Gay. Payne did not practice all week with a toe injury and head coach Dan Quinn essentially called him a game-time decision.

“Yeah, he is dealing with a toe that’s bothered him,” Quinn said on Saturday. “So just kind of working through that to get him into that spot, but I’ll know more over the next day and a half.”

Quinn didn’t say it, but it sounded like Payne will make the trip to Kansas City, which could be considered a good sign. However, Commanders insider Ben Standig reported that a source told him Payne’s status was “uncertain.”

This would be a big loss for an already struggling defense. The Commanders have already lost defensive ends Deatrich Wise, Javontae Jean-Baptiste, and, most recently, Dorance Armstrong. Payne is having a resurgent year playing alongside Javon Kinlaw and has looked dominant at times.
